NFIRS Codes
 

In this issue, we will be going over how to enter plus one codes in Incident Reporting and the most commonly used NFIRS codes.  These instructions are for use in FirePrograms Version X & X.2

Most Commonly Used NFIRS Codes

1.      Open Incident Reporting

2.      Insert a new Incident

3.      For example purposes, select Incident Type

4.      In this window labeled Look Up NFIRS5 Codes there is a button located in the bottom left corner labeled Show Most Common.

5.      Click this button – the button will change to Show All (click Show All to display all of the Incident Type codes)

6.      A list of your most commonly used codes will display in the order of most used.

7.      The list may change over time if new codes are used more often.

 

How to Enter Plus-One Codes  

1.      Open Incident Reporting

2.      Insert a new Incident

3.      For example purposes, select Incident Type

4.      In this window labeled Look Up NFIRS5 Codes there is a button located in the left side labeled Add Plus-One.

5.      Plus-One Codes window will display.  This will display all Plus-one codes already entered.  6.      Click Insert.  Enter the Plus-One Code you would like to enter, such as 1111, this will display under 111 – Building Fire.  Complete the Code and Description box

7.      Click Ok to save the new Plus-One Code.

8.      When using a field that has Plus-One Codes assigned to it, you will need to select one of the Plus-One Codes below that value or highlight the main code you would like to use and press the button “Use This Code”

9.      Some states do have required Plus-One Codes, please check with your state for any updates regarding Plus-One Codes.  Each state may vary.
