Creating Desktop Icons
 

Within FirePrograms you can create icons to run external programs such as Internet Explorer, Microsoft Word, etc.  Use the following steps to create a new icon:
 

1.      Right click on the FirePrograms Desktop.

2.      Left click on ‘New’ from the menu displayed.

3.      The Icon Properties window will display.

4.      From ‘Type of Icon’ drop down, select ‘Run External Program’.

5.      For ‘Enter Path of File to Run’ click the … button – browse to the desired exe for the  program you wish to open (example: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe).

6.      For ‘Image to Display’ click the … button to choose any image you would like displayed as the icon for this program.  If no image is selected the default image will display.

7.      Enter a Display Name (example:  Internet Explorer).

8.      Choose desired ‘Label Color’ – the default is black, click ‘Select Color’ button to change the font color.

9.      Enter a keystroke for ‘Shortcut Key’ if you would like to create a keyboard shortcut for this program (example: I – to open Internet Explorer).  This option is not required.

10.  Click OK to save your new icon.
