| Narrative Generation Setup |
In this week’s issue we will cover how to use the Narrative Generation Setup. This feature enables you to create a predetermined narrative which will appear in each Incident Report under the notes section. It will take into account the events that took place while on each incident. |
1. Open FirePrograms. 2. Click System Setup from your Desktop. 3. Select default (unless you want to create a different narrative for individual users – if so then select the desired user) 4. Click Change 5. In the left hand window, click on Incident Reporting. 6. Under the Narrative Generation portion, click the drop-down arrow Select Module to Add New Line. 7. Select the module that you would like to use, then click Add New Line. (Module = portion of the incident report) 8. The NarrLineSetup window will display. 9. Under the Prompt/Heading portion, type the text that you would like to appear for the selected module. This is static text like a label, title, etc. For example, if you chose Personnel as your module, your text could say “Personnel Attending Incident”. 10. In the Available Fields portion you will find the data fields available from the module you selected. Locate the fields to display in your narrative and double-click or highlight and click Select. The fields then appear under the Notes To Be Printed For Every <Incident >. (Note: < > indicates these are fields from the database, so the value will change based on the module selected.) 11. In the Notes to be Printed for Every <FIELD> portion, you can use this section as a narrative template, or select fields to add from the available fields. For example, the following is displayed <PERSONLOOKUPID> and <ACTIVITY>. This will display in your narrative each Person who attended the incident and their activity as entered in the Personnel Supplemental Report. 12. Once complete click the OK button. 13. Repeat steps 6 – 12 for each desired module of the incident report you wish to have in the predetermined narrative. 14. Click OK to save the Narrative and exit System Setup. 15. To view your newly created narrative, go to Incident Reporting, open an existing Incident Report (or insert a new one), click on the Notes tab, click the Generate Narrative button. |
